Prime Minister al-Zaidi ordered the immediate acceleration of major infrastructure projects across Iraq.
The developments include Baghdad's new airport, modern city initiatives, and Mosul International Airport.
Al-Zaidi emphasized eliminating bureaucratic red tape to implement these vital and strategic projects.
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi directed on Monday the immediate acceleration of vital infrastructure developments across Iraq, including Baghdad's new airport, modern city initiatives, and the expedited completion of Mosul International Airport.
Prime Minister al-Zaidi’s Media Office stated that he chaired a meeting on several major service projects, including the modern cities project and Baghdad's new airport project.
Al-Zaidi "stressed the importance of expediting the procedures for implementing these vital and strategic projects, free from bureaucracy and red tape."
The session brought together senior officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, the Minister of Finance, the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Chairman of the National Investment Commission, the Executive Director of the Iraq Development Fund, and a panel of advisers.
Al-Zaidi highlighted Iraq's pressing requirement for a major aviation hub that aligns with the growing demands of modern air transit and maximizes the economic value of the country’s strategic geographical location.
Consequently, the Prime Minister ordered relevant authorities to "expedite the opening and operation of Mosul International Airport."
The agenda also covered several critical development files, including Baghdad’s Fourth Ring Road Project, the comprehensive rehabilitation of Baghdad International Airport, legal frameworks to address zoning encroachments, and the strategic Iraq’s Economic Capital Project.
The focus on expediting these infrastructure files reflects a broader initiative by the al-Zaidi administration to prioritize the rapid construction of new, master-planned smart cities across multiple governorates.
Following the finalization of land allocations, the government is moving forward with these integrated centers to encompass modern residential complexes alongside commercial and recreational facilities.
Furthermore, this urban expansion is reinforced by the nationwide rollout of the "One Million Residential Land Plots Project" to directly provide sustainable housing options for citizens.
Concurrently, the revival of the Mosul International Airport reconstruction serves as a critical stabilization milestone, as its facilities required complete rebuilding following the severe damage sustained during military operations to liberate the city in 2017.
